featured performer: Any actor who has a separate name mention that is apart from the general cast of characters. Featured performers are not generally the lead actors, unless he or she is a replacement for the star.
fly loft: A designated area above the stage that's equipped to lift stage props up and out of the way.
follow spot: The lighting that moves with the focused performer who is speaking or singing at the moment.
fringe: The London version of New York's "Off-Broadway."
house seats: A term referring to seats withheld from the general public in case someone of importance to the play shows up and requests tickets.
inner stage: A portion of the performance area that can be hidden from the audience and revealed during a part of the play for a secondary scene.
intensive structure: A play in which the script is narrowly confined to a short time period with very few or no perceived location changes and with a beginning that encompasses the final moments of the story; also known as climactic structure.
